There must be room for joy in life and to do something wonderful for yourself

Izabella Winther

Tell us a bit about yourself and what are you passionate about

My name is Izabella Winther. I am the owner and the woman behind the Huskdigselv clinic. Since 2000, I am a trained FDZ reflexologist and have continuously specialized in infertility, fertility, pregnancy, childbirth and infants and have helped many women in my clinic.

I am also a trained obstetrician and have participated and assisted in more than 60 births. Last, but not least, I am a trained Totum body therapist and can offer a holistic treatment when you want to get rid of the body’s blockages and tensions- either of mental or physical nature.

In the Huskdigselv clinic, we offer specialized treatment for women: reflexology, body therapy, pregnancy massage, rebozo, birth preparation, etc.

I am also the owner of Fødselsterapeuten ApS, where we train obstetricians who assist pregnant women and couples before, during and after birth. You can read more about it at www.foedselsterapeuten.dk

"I always recommend women who want to become pregnant to take supplements targeted to an upcoming pregnancy. I also remind her that men can also benefit from supplementing their diet with food supplements."

What is your specialization and why did you choose this area?

I am busy helping women. It feels very natural to me to talk to women about their challenges. It can be about all aspects of life, but in my daily work the issues surrounding pregnancy fill a lot of the space; the lonely and for some long journey of being childless and then there is the worry that follows when you finally manage to become pregnant.

My clients see me as a companion - with me they have the freedom and the space to have their heavy hearts lightened. I believe it is my noble task to guide and turn her situation upside down a bit, so she can get a new perspective and free herself from the burden she carries on her shoulders.

Many women have a great need for control and place many restrictions for themselves. So even if the intentions are good, the woman can sometimes make it too difficult for herself and the control can start dominating her everyday life and relationships. Pregnancy is not always something we can plan and make happen whenever we want. And when it does not happen by itself, it can be difficult to let go of the restrictions and control.

What does health mean to you?

Health does not necessarily mean living by very strict rules. We all know very well that we need to eat healthy, exercise, sleep well and avoid sugar, alcohol and other stimulants.

Women tend to forget themselves and the fact that they need to live in the present. During that waiting period it becomes hard to get up every day, especially if you have been trying to become pregnant for more than one year. Women must learn to make room for a little joy in their lives and to do something nice for themselves. I invite the woman back to the life she used to live with her partner when they were newly in love. More laughter and more spontaneity.

What is your philosophy when it comes to health, diet and food supplements?

I always recommend the woman who wants to become pregnant to take supplements targeted to an upcoming pregnancy. I also remind her that men can also benefit from supplementing their diet with food supplements. If sperm quality is reduced, it is a good idea to supplement with zinc. It all goes well with the products La Roar has developed.

What projects are you working on right now, and what past achievements are important for us to know about you?

I am a woman with initiative who sets things in motion and I constantly challenge myself with new projects through my two companies. In the recent years, it has been about creating my own clinic – I call it Huset Huskdigselv.

We are several therapists at the clinic who are continuously improving our treatment options for our clients. The treatments available in the clinic are:

Reflexology, body therapy, pregnancy massage, rebozo massage, ear acupuncture, pregnancy packages, birth preparation, childbirth initiation, pregnancy yoga, obstetrics, baby reflexology.

You can read more about our treatments here:  https://huskdigselv.dk/behandlinger/.

The clinic also forms the framework for the obstetrician education, where by the end of February 2021 we will have trained 34 obstetricians.

In collaboration with Podimo, I have made a podcast series of 7 episodes, which addresses the different challenges women face within my specialty. Here the listeners are invited to join us for a chat during a reflexology treatment. You can find the podcast here: https://podimo.com/dk/shows/db2e785b-9e4d-46f4-9e0d-aed64729e4ca

Something completely new we have started to offer at the clinic is the birth preparation pregnancy yoga, which has proved to be a huge success. We are currently working on different offer packages for our clients. We hold the pregnancy yoga classes on Wednesdays. These are small teams where women meet for a period of 6 weeks and work on agility, breathing and relaxation so they are prepared for their upcoming birth.
